Recently I and people that think like me were called a “militant”. It was meant as a derogatory term from the person that was calling me that.
But I started thinking about it and looked up the definition of the word and I have to admit that I am a “militant”. But, I see that as a good thing. In fact I wish there were more of us in this Country. Perhaps we would not be in the position that we now find ourselves.
Dictionary.com gives this definition.
mil•i•tant - Show Spelled Pronunciation[mil-i-tuh nt]–adjective
1. vigorously active and aggressive, esp. in support of a cause: militant reformers.
2. engaged in warfare; fighting.
–noun
3. a militant person.
4. a person engaged in warfare or combat.
And the American Heritage Dictionary gives this as the definition.
mil•i•tant (mĭl'ĭ-tənt)
adj.
1. Fighting or warring.
2. Having a combative character; aggressive, especially in the service of a cause: a militant political activist.
n. A fighting, warring, or aggressive person or party.
Let me break this down to show you why I am a militant. In the first definition it says, “vigorously active and aggressive, esp. in support of a cause: militant reformers”.
I have been vigorously active and sometimes even aggressive, in the cause that I support. You might even say passionate. Even though I meet all kinds of resistance from many different people of various ideals, I still press on toward that goal.
That goal that I support is the belief in a constitution republic as this Country was intended. Let’s face it, this Country has gotten way off of the way it was meant to be. It was meant to be a Country of free people that can live free of government control as they were used to living under. A republic was to represent the people and the people were to be in control, not the government.
Over the years we have allowed the government (actually the administration of this government) to grab more and more control away from the people and the people no longer have the control. In fact they live in fear of their government. This should not be so. It is not how it was meant to work.
Let’s face the facts folks. We must have permission to do just about anything these days at one level or another.
You can’t build a house without permission in most areas of this country. You can’t get married without their permission. You can’t drive on the streets without the proper permission. There are many things you can’t buy or sell without their permission. I could go on and on but I think you get the idea.
If you don’t pay the appropriate level of government for permission to do whatever it is you want to do, you are fined even more money or imprisoned. This simply is not what was intended by the Founders.
We are also unjustly taxed by many levels of government which take your money and give it away to undeserving people that are to lazy to work and even criminals in some cases. They continue to do things with your money that you do not approve of and if you don’t give them your money they will take everything you have.
Is this the way the Founders intended this country to be? Of course it is not.
Over the past few years I have seen this government (rather administration) take more and more control from the people. They pass more and more laws that they say are for our own good. It’s like we can’t decide that for ourselves. Therefore I have become a militant in my belief that we need to turn this Country around and move back in the direction it was intended. This would be a small government controlled by the people for the benefit of all and not a government that controls all like we have now.
Since this is what I would like to see, you could say that I am a “militant reformer” according to that definition. Because I encourage people to look at where this Country is heading and that it is going in the wrong direction. And I encourage them to make the decision to help bring this Country back to the way it was intended.
I also would have to agree with the later part of the definition and that of the American Heritage one. It states, “a person engaged in warfare or combat.” And we are in a war.
We have been in a war over our Country for many years now but many people don’t realize it. It is not yet a battle with bullets but could end up that way soon if changes aren’t made. But it has been a battle of wills and I have to tell you that the people are losing. We are losing more ground to government control of our lives everyday. We are losing because the majority of our population has become complacent and believe whatever the government tells them as long as it doesn’t disturb their comfort zone.
We need militants in this war if we are ever going to see this Country become the Country it was intended to be. We must be aggressive in our efforts to open the eyes of the people and show them the way things should be.
This Country was founded by people with militant mindsets. They were militant if their ways at the time and somewhere in each passing generation we have lost that militant spirit and have accepted this control as the norm. We have become passive and tolerant allowing new controls to be put in place daily.
We the people, need to find our militant roots once again before it is to late if it is not already, and teach and encourage others to join with us in the case to restore a constitutional republic before they wipe out the constitution all together.
We are not a democracy. We are not a dictatorship or monarchy. We are not a communist or socialist nation. We are a constitutional republic. Why do we tolerate these other things in our nation when it only brings division and destruction?
We need to become again, “We the People” as our forefathers once were. And if that means we are militants and that we need to be militant in our ideals, then so be it. Call me a militant. Because I want to see my children inherit the Country as it was intend to be and that is not one that is controlled by the government. It is one that the government is controlled by the people, for the people.
Let us work together in a “vigorously active and aggressive” way not for ourselves but for the sake of our children and others.
Yes, I am a militant and I find myself in good company. But we need more, many more to join us. Will it be you?
